FIVE STARS: BEACH MUSIC by PAT CONROY. This is a masterful piece. Well written and filled with imagery. The subjects range from the culture of the Southern USA, the Viet Nam War, the Jewish Holocaust, family relationships, suicide and its effects on the survivors, sea turtle ecology, and so much more. Conroy's prose is sterling. His use of just the right combination of words, often unexpected, adds a unique blend of reality and fantasy. The storyline is so touching that it reminded me of my own history and I strongly related to the book. I have never read a more compelling and grotesque description of the atrocities inflicted by the Nazis on the Jewish people. I would highly recommend this book to any avid reader.
